Established in 2008 by a Special Ordinance of the Governor of Karnataka, the University of Horticultural Sciences is a premier institution in the field of Horticultural study and research in India.
With a state-of-the-art campus and a highly qualified set of faculty members, UHS has put Bagalkot on India’s educational map as the top destination for students pursuing a career in the agricultural sphere.
The sprawling campus, built in a mix of Neo-Classical and Indo-Saracenic architectural styles and situated in a large expanse of green, is quite an attraction in itself.
The location is perfect for the University as the surrounding lands are home to 10 different agro-climatic regions and hundreds of farms growing many things from Mangoes, Grapes, Spices, Coconuts and several other fruits and vegetables to a variety of medicinal and commercial plants.
Eight different colleges spread all over Karnataka function under the auspices of the administrative headquarters at Bagalkot, providing high quality education and carrying out basic and applied research in collaboration with other research organizations as well as local farmers.
Together, these institutions have made significant headway in the development and improvement of Horticultural practices in India, fulfilling its mandate in every possible way.
