Perhaps the Bellary fort located atop a hill in the middle of the city is the first to come to mind when it comes to the tourist attractions in Bellary. But the place is best known for its temples too, sometimes for the chief deity, one of its kind or for its ancient heritage and sculptural marvels and also for the marvels of the traditional Vijayanagara Empire.
Royal Enclosures: It is a vast compound that speaks loftily about the marvels of the Vijayanagara Empire.
The Mahanavmi Dibba: a stage where the King was supposed to have had played Holi and used the same for his entertainment is an amazing site to visit. One has to climb the steep stairway to climb to the top for its breathtaking sight, which is totally worth it. One will be amazed by the Vijayanagara marvels with which it appeases the eyes.
Narasimha Temple: The chief deity is Lord Vishnu in his half lion and half human appearance. Local people hold great reverence for the place and pujas are regularly performed for the idol, which is more than 6 ft high.
One may also travel to see the Vijyanagara Empire, its awe inspiring remains and visit the temples like Virupaksha which are located in the same compound.
